The Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School curriculum adheres to the Standards and Benchmarks guidelines of the Archdiocese of Denver Office of Catholic Schools and is in compliance with all state education requirements. SPPS’s rigorous curriculum prepares students for their future preparing them to succeed in any high school academic program. It provides a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills necessary for each student’s spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical development. Solid and enriching as it is, our curriculum is in a continuous state of advancement s with the tools, confidence, and abilities demanded by our increasingly complex world.
The core curriculum, consisting of Religion, Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies provides the strong basis of our academic programs, as the learning objectives in each subject area build from one year to the next through the entire academic life of each student. The emphasis on essential knowledge and high level of skills in our core curriculum is tested and proved to best prepare students for the future that they may fulfill their dreams in their chosen academic path.
The curriculum also includes additional courses in web-based introduction to Spanish, Italian, or French, Art, Music, Technology, Physical Education, Health and Safety and Library. These courses are provided so that students may expand their academic experience, explore particular interests, and challenge to develop their God-given talents. In addition to the six core classes requisite in each grade level, the middle school students engage in math review and a 21st Century Intentional Learning class, The Cutting Edge, TCE.
Lastly, Saint Peter and Paul Catholic School offers intellectually challenging extra-curricular activities, such as Junior Great Books, Band, Speech and Young AmeriTowne. Speech is a co-curricular activity for 7th and 8th grade students. Young AmeriTowne is offered to 5th and 6th grade students and Outdoor Ed to 7th grade students. The Academic Decathlon is a challenging program for selected 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
